What would breakfast be without wonderfully fragrant coffee? At Cölln's, we serve our in-house coffee line from the wonderful La Marzocco espresso machine - the Rolls Royce of coffee machines. We also offer well-known Hamburg roasters such as Elbgold, Nord Coast Coffee, Playground, Carroux and Quijote. Our homemade French rolls, delicious mueslis, fresh pancakes and warm egg dishes are the perfect start to the day.
Cölln's has a heart for late risers, as breakfast is available until 12 noon during the week and until 5 pm on weekends.Meanwhile, our lunch at Cölln's is no longer a secret: the daily menu includes crisp salads, warming soups, and classics such as Labskaus and KönigsbergerKlopse. The popular dishes are supplemented by a seasonal weekly menu with quick dishes that can also be ordered as a lunch menu.
In the afternoon, you will be greeted by succulent cakes and pies from the Motherland bakery at the cake counter. Our confectioners make them fresh every day and in traditional handwork. If you fancy a freshly tapped beer, good wines or a fine gin & tonic after work, before the cinema or while relaxing with friends, you can enjoy this in our cozy atmosphere.
The evening menu of Cölln's changes monthly. Dishes like the wild herb salad, the roasted mullet after Johann Cölln, the breaded veal escalope or oysters from different regions are already classics in our house. By the way, meat, fish and vegetables come from small family farms in the area. This is how our modern German cuisine is created from the best quality and artisan tradition. As Heinrich Heine already said: " We go to the slut in the Cölln's...".
Cölln's has been around since 1760 and is Germany's oldest oyster bar. 30,000 hand-painted tiles and the listed separees tell a piece of Hamburg history. Famous personalities, aristocrats and merchants already dined here. Mutterland is proud to have found a new home in this Hamburgensie.
...that numerous famous personalities have already been guests at Cölln's? Kaiser Wilhelm II, Otto von Bismarck, Hans Albers, Helmut Kohl and former mayors Henning Voscherau and Klaus von Dohnanyi have already dined here. Hamburg publishers Gerd Bucerius and John Jahr Senior also stopped by. Helmut and Loki Schmidt regularly ate at Cölln's. In the 1980s, Rudolf Augstein preferred to order the canal worker's slice with 200 grams of tartar of beef fillet, briefly gratinated, with a dollop of crème fraîche and two tablespoons of caviar. Tsar Nicholas came to Cölln's in 1897 on his way to England and dined with his wife in the last separee.
