A very special Werwut: Hand-picked organic grapes of Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir make the powerful base wine. Harvested very late from the Dorst&Consorten family's own vineyards, they contain much of the fruit's own sugar and maximum aroma. The wine matures oxidatively, with controlled oxygen contact, in a large wooden barrel and is refined with a hand-picked herb and spice blend. After at least one year of maturation, brandy and sugar are added just before bottling. The Merwut is coarsely filtered, which is why a slight cloudiness may be visible in the bottle. A classic aperitif to set the mood, a super cocktail ingredient or a delicious digestif. Our tip: Pure, with a slice of lemon or some lemon juice on ice, or mixed with tonic. Cheers!
Stefan Dorst has been cooperating with various Palatinate winegrowers and wine enthusiasts for 30 years under the name "Dorst & Consorten". In doing so, they not only create wines with strong character, which come from hand-picked organic grapes from various vineyards, but also first-class vermouth. Stefan became aware of the "dark brown drink" through his trips to Spain every year, but had not dared to try it until one day he did. He was so enthusiastic about vermouth that he wanted to produce this unbelievable intensity of flavour and variety of aromas himself. He spent six years fine-tuning his Merwut, which he is now proud to present.
