This coarsely ground mustard in a stone pot is made just like in great-grandfather's times and is ideal for marinades and seasoning meat.
Mustard has been produced in the small historic mustard mill Monschau in North Rhine-Westphalia since 1883. Founded by the brothers Clemens and Heinrich Breuer, unique mustard variations are now being produced in the 5th family generation. The Monschau mill is a technical monument - built in 1882 and owned by the Breuer family ever since. Between old millstones, Moutarde de Montjoie, the Monschau mustard, is still made by hand today, as it was in ancient times. The black basalt lava stones grind the mustard seeds particularly gently and cold in two processes. This allows the essential oils of the grains to develop ideally and also results in a smooth consistency. The refined mustard is then filled by hand into original stoneware pots.
